We are not where we want to be - yet - but despite the interruptions caused by COVID, we have improved our standings and scores due to the creation of a curriculum team and the hard work of our teachers during the most difficult time in recent history.
We’ve been working on creating an RUHS school day make-up plan based upon the feedback we’ve receive from students, parents and staff members. Please read this message carefully.
We will be applying for a waiver from the State to excuse the days missed due to the RUHS heating system failure. The State School Board will likely review our request at their February 15th meeting. Because the granting of our request is not guaranteed, we must plan for the makeup days in the meantime to allow families and students to lock in their schedules. Based on community feedback the plan is below:
February 20-22 will be school days for all RUHS students. Since folks may already have other plans locked in – RUHS admin will send out a survey to see if we will be able to reach the 50% attendance threshold on these days. If not, these days will be made up at the end of the year instead.
March 7th will be a school day for all RUHS students.
March 21st will be a full day for students.
March 22nd will be a half day for students.
April 24-26 will be school days for all RUHS students.
Any remaining days will be made up at the end of the school year.
This plan could change once we hear from the state. That said, regardless of the State’s decision, March 7th will be a day of school for RUHS students.
Please accept our gratitude for working with us on ensuring the district meets the state requirements for time on learning, we do recognize the impact these changes may have on family plans.
Most Sincerely, Layne Millington OSSD Superintendent
