Note to Parents/Guardians:

The OSSD maintains a preschool waiting list for families who are interested in having their children attend one of our preschool programs when the programs are at capacity.

Families are welcome to place their child on the waiting list once they turn 2 years old or at any time following the child’s second birthday. If you live in the towns of Braintree, Brookfield or Randolph, please call Nicole Scudero at RES at 728-9555 to place your child on the waiting list. We will be in touch as soon as space becomes available for your child.

If you have any questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to call Nicole or Principal Pat Miller at 728-9555.

Our Philosophy...

We believe that children learn best in a caring and nurturing environment where they can explore, create and have a variety of play experiences.  Learning opportunities should be developmentally appropriate and address all areas of growth including social emotional, physical and cognitive development. The education of young children is a collaboration involving teachers, specialists, families, and communities. Our programs offer an abundance of opportunities for children to be outside, participating in active play and interacting with nature.

Our Early Education Program...

The OSSD  has three early education programs that any family living in our school district can access free of charge. Each program has different days and hours of operation which enables families to choose the program that best meets their needs. All district preschool programs are lead by a certified early education teacher and include all preschool children regardless of disability.  You can Meet Our Pre-School Teachers by clicking on this link.

The Randolph program has achieved the highest five star level and operates both morning and afternoon free public preschool sessions. Families have the choice of Monday-Thursday mornings 8:05-10:50 or Monday -Thursday afternoons 11:50-2:30.

Braintree offers public preschool sessions on Monday-Thursday mornings from 8:00-10:30. Braintree also offers families the option of signing up for extended hours to meet the demand for full day childcare. The hours in Braintree are 7:30-5:30. Once a student participates in the program, they will automatically receive a spot for the subsequent year. Throughout the year we accept new applications and students will remain on our waiting list until they enter kindergarten.

We are excited to be opening a new preschool program in Brookfield for the 2019-2020 school year. Like the other two schools, free public preschool will be offered Monday-Thursday 8:00-10:30. Brookfield will offer families the option of signing up for extended childcare so children can attend from 7:30-2:30.

All three schools will offer children the very popular Educating Children Outdoors (ECO) program which has students outside each week in their outdoor classrooms. “As an educator," Miller said, "it’s been my observation that children who spend time in high quality preschool benefit socially, academically, and intellectually, and I’m excited that the OSSD can be a part of that.” Our preschool staff has received specialized training in operating outdoor classrooms and are very enthusiastic about bringing this opportunity to area preschool students. Each week children will spend a ½ day or more outside in the woods and fields surrounding each school learning about nature and exploring the great  outdoors.
